Jake was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 1999 when he was only 6 years old.
From this age my illness was controlled fairly well with medications and regular check-ups to guy’s hospital, then when I turned 11 I got severely unwell overnight and this would carry on for about 4 years without any remission and even when I had some sort of remission at the age of 15 I was still not 100% but never the less good than I was before so that was good enough for me.
Over the course of my life, I have undergone several operations including one loop ileostomy in 2014 and one loop colostomy in 2019 and many others previous to these. I have also been on a few biologicals such as; infliximab, Humira, and Stelara.
Fast forward to now and I’m finally doing very well thanks to my colostomy, Stelara injections and a lot of resilience to keep going. I have my bad days like anyone but it’s nothing I can’t handle.

I’ve been exercising for years, to be honest, it’s only just recently I’ve been able to put on any weight and all thanks to my ostomy. That is something I am really grateful for.
I’m Jake and this is my story!
